I emailed my local LGBT and asked if there were any ace contacts in my area. They replied that asexuality isn’t recognised by them as a sexuality, because it is in fact an illness that requires treatment with hormones.

Yeah, this pretty much happened to me when I inquired about joining my University’s LGBTQA club. I’d like to think it was the fault of an idiot representative, but I still haven’t went back.

I’m not an asexual but I have plenty of friends who are and these people obviously have no idea how much this hurts them.

So, bisexuals are all sluts because they can be sexually attracted to either sex, and asexuals have a disease because they aren’t secxually attracted to either sex? Riiiiiiight.

Damn, LGBT community. Don’t want to sound mean, but if you want respect from the widespread public, you’re going to have to learn to respect your own kind first.
